The Cape Mentelle ‘Brooks’ Chardonnay bursts forth with ripe pineapple, golden delicious apple and lime zest characters, along with enticing hints of lemon curd tart, sweet cream, vanilla pod and a touch of cedar smoke. Lingering floral notes of jasmine and citrus blossom intermingle with toasted almond, cashew and hints of yellow peach to charm. This wine also has a bright minerality and delicious vanilla custard creaminess. The finish is long, displaying toasted hazelnut and a vibrant lemon juiciness. This beautiful wine lends itself to a wide array of pairings; lemon and asparagus risotto, fresh scallop sashimi, kingfish carpaccio or even a simple cheese board. Totally enjoyable and represents incredible value for the price.

Following gentle pressing and overnight settling, the juice was racked off its heavy solids into Burgundian oak barrels and stainless-steel fermenters, where the alcoholic fermentation occurred with both selected and wild yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation proceeded to give a balance between a rich, round palate weight and the floral, mineral fresh elements. The wine then matured with oak on lees (yeast solids) for eleven months. Certain lots were selected for their fresh, fruit forwardness and subtle oak characters, they were then filtered lightly and bottled before the following harvest.
