Picquepoul is a white grape variety from Pinet, in the South of France. Coriole, have been making outstanding Picquepoul wines in McLaren Vale since 2015. Picquepoul is known for having a high acidity and a lively texture, making it a great accompaniment for seafood, particularly oysters and other shellfish. The Coriole Picquepoul shows aromas of fresh lemon, cypress and white nectarine. The palate displays a fresh acidity, that provides drive and texture, along with flavours of citrus blossom, jasmine flower and wet stone, leaving the palate craving seafood. This wine is superb with freshly shucked oysters and other shellfish - the ultimate companions that complement Piquepoul’s vibrant acidity.
Expert Reviews & Awards
"A variety that seems impeccably suited to the turf, evolving from earlier vintages to impart a crunchy line of oyster-shell freshness to a field of lemon balm, tonic, talc, jasmine and apple. A welcome generosity to the mid palate. Lovely gear. Imminent pleasure."
