The Mezza di Mezzacorona Sparkling is a fresh and enjoyable sparkling wine from the Alto Adige region which is located at the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy. Alto Adige is Italy's most northerly wine region. The climate is very cool and the vineyards are planted at elevations between 400 and 800 metres. As a result, this region is known for producing fresh, aromatic white wines with high acidity. The Mezza Sparkling has aromas and flavours of red apple, pear, white peach and pineapple, along with a soft mousse, persistent bubbles and a smooth acidity. Perfect for any celebration or occasion and ideal as an aperitif.
Expert Reviews & Awards
"They call the Mezza a glacial sparkling wine thanks to its home in the cool Italian Alps. It’s a unique blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Muller Thurgau, and is made in a similar way to Prosecco creating a bright, fresh and juicy sparkling wine. This wine is unique and elegant with its chalky, baked apple and citrus fruits plus a faint floral edge. It’s then dry, crisp and light weight with gentle earthy flavours finishing fine and long." 91 Points

Winemaking Notes
Made from a blend of 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Bianco and 10% Muller Thurgau.
The grapes were harvested and selected by hand at the beginning of September and after destemming and crushing, soft pressed to extract only the aromatic compounds. After natural clarification, fermentation was done at controlled temperature of 17 degrees Celsius for 10- 11 days. The wine was then matured on lees for 4-6 months. After the assembly of the cuvee, the wine underwent a secondary fermentation in an autoclave for 15 days until the fermentation was naturally blocked, by cooling the temperature to 5 degrees celsius to preserve the natural sugar and encourage balance and smoothness to this sparking wine. The wine was matured on the lees in autoclave for 3-5 months before cold stabilisation, filtration and bottling.
This production process (Charmat method) is used to produce Prosecco.
