Radford Dale Vinum Pinotage
Stellenbosch
$21.50
Min. Quantity: 3
The Radford Dale Vinum Pinotage was grown in the Northern part of the Stellenbosch region, with very little rainfall. As a result, this wine has very concentrated aromas and flavours of juicy blackberries and black plums along with ripe tannins that really highlight Pinotage as one of South Africa's hallmark wines. Rich, earthy and slightly smoky, the Radford Dale Vinum Pinotage would pair well with pulled pork, charcuterie or even an Indian beef curry.
Expert Reviews & Awards
"The aim here is to reveal 'the hidden side of Pinotage', using natural fermentation and carbonic maceration. it's certainly a wonderfully drinkable red : supple and juicy with impressive colour and concentration and raspberry and black cherry fruit" 91 points (on the 2019 vintage).
Tim Atkin MW, Wine Mag, South Africa 2020 Special Report — 91 Points
The grapes were hand sorted to ensure that only the best bunches were used for carbonic maceration, a technique whereby the berries ferment naturally within themselves. Carbonic maceration brings out colour and fruit flavours without tannin, resulting in softer wines with vibrant fruit aromas and flavours. After fermentation, the wine the underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation in small Burgundian barrels. The winemaker did not use new oak in order to give the wine freshness, texture and complexity without heavy oak.

Region
About Stellenbosch
The Stellenbosch wine region in South Africa has earned a reputation for top class red wines such as Syrah, along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, that are often made into Bordeaux blends. This impressive wine region is located 50 kilometres west of Cape Town and stretches inland from the coast towards the mountains. The moderate climate and cooling winds from False Bay are ideal for fine wine production. Vineyards that have cooler temperatures can produce high quality Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
