CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is bright ruby red in colour. The nose opens with fresh notes of pomegranates, cherries and orange peels accompanied by light spicy hints of ginger. Floral undertones complete the bouquet with accents of lavender, rose petals and delicate balsamic notes of white musk. A vertical entry on the palate leads to a savoury and flavourful structure while supple tannins accompany an intense and expansive finish with warm notes of cocoa. The term 'Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG' wines must be aged for 24 months of which at least 3 months must be spent bottle ageing. In addition, the Chianti Classico region, or 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garanita', is it's own region, not sub region of Chianti. The Chianti Classico DOCG vineyards are at a higher altitude than those of the Chianti DOCG, resulting in wines with higher acidity and deeper aromas and flavours. Made from a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, by one of Italy's most successful wine families, this is a stunning Chianti Classico Riserva!
Winemaking Notes
Freshly harvested grapes were destemmed and gently crushed then transferred into stainless steelvats where
alcoholic fermentation took place ata controlled temperature of 28 - 30 °C (82 - 86 °F). Maceration on the skins
lasted fora period ofapproximately 10-14 days using controlled automated techniques to gently extractaromas,
structure, and supple tannins. Sangiovese underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steelvats while several
lots of the other grape varieties went into second and third fill barriques. The various lots were blended and
continued to age in oak, predominantly in larger format barrels and a smaller percentage in barriques, up until the
end of spring 2023. Bottling began in the month of July 2024.

About Chianti, Gamay & Pinotage
Gamay is a grape variety that is used to make light bodied, fruity, food friendly, red wines. Gamay is grown all over the world but it features prominently in France, where it is used to make the famous Beaujolais wines. Gamay wines, such as Beaujolais, are soft, delicious and very approachable. They have appealing aromas of cherry, raspberry, pear and violets. Beaujolais are often made for early drinking. Some of the higher classifications of Beaujolais, that made from particular villages or appellations (crus), have more structure and are more suitable for ageing. In Australia, Gamay grows well in cooler regions such as the Yarra Valley and Southern Tasmania.
