Beautifully balanced with soft velvety tannins and finishing with lively acidity, this wine is ideal with roasted duck, BBQ ribs or slow cooked lamb.
Expert Reviews & Awards
"All the regional aromas and flavours at play, from violets, wakame, cassis and chocolate to mulberries, with a distinct ironstone character too. The fuller-bodied palate comes strewn with tannins, the texture of cocoa powder, and somewhat drying on the finish. Just needs a bit more time in bottle." (On the 2021 vintage).
Halliday Wine Companion - April 2024 (JF) — 93 Points
"A 50/50% blend that spent 14 months in barrel. The colour is light but bright, the palate an elegant assemblage of red and blue fruits, the tannins lined up in controlled support." 93 Points (on the 2019 vintage).
Halliday Wine Companion - August 2022 (NG) — 93 Points
"A swab of black olive. Thyme and dried scrub. Earthen. A gentle whiff of cassis emerges from beneath the leafy foliage of an immensely savoury, mid-weighted cabernet. My wine of choice on Qantas Business Class. Aussie Petit Chateau." (On the 2018 vintage).
Halliday Wine Companion - 2021 (NG) — 92 Points
Winemaking Notes
This wine was harvested in small batches. Once harvested and in the winery, the fruit was gently destemmed, then passed over a vibrating sorting table, before making its way to small stainless-steel fermenters. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in French oak barrels for 14 months, where 5% of the barrels used were new.
The Wilyabrup Valley blend comprises 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.

About Margaret River
The Margaret River produces outstanding Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc as well as Bordeaux style red blends made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Located 200 kilometres south of Perth, the Margaret River has a warm maritime climate. This results in grapes that have concentrated fruit aromas and flavours while still retaining high levels of acidity, due to the cooling ocean breezes. This also allows the Margaret River to offer fresh, elegant and restrained wines as well as full-bodied and powerful wines.
