The Daily Drop panel was inspired by the sheer elegance of the Lane Vineyard's Block 14 Basket Press Shiraz. It is definitely a 'softer' Shiraz that you could drink with lunch during Summer or enjoy with roast beef in the middle of winter! As Shiraz goes, this one is very versatile and drinkable.

The Block 14 Shiraz grapes were de- stemmed (not crushed) into static fermenters before being 'fermented cool' on skins. The wine was then basked pressed before being matured in seasoned French oak puncheons. The wine then received a further 6 months maturation in French oak, prior to blending and bottling.

"10% whole bunch. It's a floral, lifted, spicy shiraz with beautiful, fluid fruit running sweetly throughout. It's medium in weight but it feels generous, an infusion of bacony/toasty oak adding positively to the impression. Tip top." James Halliday. The Wine Companion, 2018, 95 Points (on the 2016 vintage).

"Hand-picked, destemmed and sorted prior to fermentation in stainless steel and oak vats, then basket-pressed and matured in used French oak for 8 months. Bright colour, although not particularly deep; it is medium-bodied, and the oak makes a larger impact than I might have expected, with red and black cherry fruit wrapped up in that oak." James Halliday, The Wine Companion, 2014, 90 points (on the 2012 Vintage).

"The Block 14 has the colour of intense garnet with a ruby hue. The aromas are of lifted violets, wildflowers, and vibrant blue / black fruit. And the palate possesses soft silky minerality with black fruits, licorice, pepper and spice." Nick Stock, Gourmet Traveller Shiraz Tasting, 2014 (on the 2012 Vintage).

"Single vineyard and, we’d guess, single block wine. I liked the 2010 release but I like this 2012 version more." The Wine Front, 93 points (on the 2012 Vintage).
