New Zealand's Central Otago, is one of the leading Pinot Noir regions in the world. The vineyards are located in the foothills of the Southern New Zealand Alps, where the intense sunlight results in grapes with concentrated flavours. The Amisfield Pinot Noir shows an abundance of juicy, red cherry and red currant aromas and flavours. Dark cherry and a youthful, fine acidity give this wine structure and polish, along with nicely integrated tannins and spicy oak. The Amisfield Pinot Noir is impressive on its own or with roasted chicken or beef bourguignon.
Expert Reviews & Awards
"Deeply scented Pinot Noir with floral, red rose, cassis, ripe plum and dark cherry flavours. Intense, sumptuous wine with a firm structure and a lengthy finish. Good now but should develop well with time. Drink 2022 - 2030." 94 Points (On the 2020 vintage).

Winemaking Notes
Hand-harvested fruit was cold soaked for four to five days before natural fermentation began. Gentle, selective timing of hand plunging and some pulse air during fermentation helped to extract the delicate skin and seed tannins. Approximately 10% whole-bunch clusters were included in some of
the ferments. After fermentation the wines were tasted the wines daily, to assess the tannin development while extended the skin contact time.. Maturation was 15 months in 20% tight-grain French oak.
Cellaring Notes
Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years.

About Organic Red Wine
Organic red wine is made from grapes that are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The goal is to produce wine with minimal intervention and a more environmentally friendly approach to farming. In organic wine production, only natural substances are used, and the wine is typically processed without artificial additives. Some key points about organic red wine: Grape Farming: Organic vineyards are often farmed using sustainable methods, with an emphasis on soil health, biodiversity, and minimal chemical use. Certification: Organic wines are certified by organizations such as the USDA (in the U.S.) or EU Organic (in Europe), ensuring that they meet strict organic farming and production standards. Sulfur Use: While conventional wines often contain added sulfites (which act as preservatives), many organic wines have little to no added sulfites, though some still use small amounts to prevent spoilage. Organic red wines can range from lighter, fruit-forward styles to more complex, full-bodied wines, depending on the grape variety and winemaking process used. Common red grape varieties for organic wine production include Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Tempranillo.
About Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is one of the world's most loved, light bodied red wines. Pinot Noir can be made into a variety wine styles, from light and fruity styles featuring cherry and strawberry notes to more complex, gamey and earthy styles. Pinot Noir is usually higher in acid and lower in tannin, making it an ideal pairing for lighter, fattier foods duck, cheese and lamb. Often, the region defines the style. Along with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir is the main grape variety in Burgundy, where the cooler climate produces highly prized wines, loved throughout history of drinking wine! Germany is also known for high quality Pinot Noir, produced in the cooler regions of Pfalz and Baden. As well as France and Germany, the 'new world' wine countries such as the USA, Chile, South Africa and New Zealand also produce high quality Pinot Noir. The list of top Pinot Noir regions in the world includes; Sonoma County, Carneros, Santa Barbara County and Oregon (USA), Casablanca (Chile), Walker Bay (South Africa), Marlborough and Central Otago (New Zealand). Australia also has pockets of high quality Pinot Noir in multiple regions but some of the best Pinot Noir wines are made in the Yarra Valley, Tasmania, The Mornington Peninsula and the Adelaide Hills.
About Vegan Red Wines
Vegan wines are made without the use of any animal products. During the winemaking process, wine often becomes slightly cloudy or opaque, due to floating proteins (along with tannins and tartrates). Sometimes, this corrects itself during winemaking process but often, winemaker needs to ‘fine’ the wine to clarify it. Fining agents such as eggs, fish oil or bone marrow are of course, animal derived. However, if the winemaker uses bentonite clay, charcoal, limestone or silica gel to ‘fine’ the wine, those products are not animal derived and the wine can be classified as vegan. This is becoming increasingly important to our customers and we are always on the look out for vegan wines.

About Central Otago
Central Otago is located east of Queenstown, on the South Island of New Zealand and at the foothills of the Southern New Zealand Alps. The wine region covers a large area that is dominated by mountain ranges and many of the vineyards are planted at high altitude or, in valleys. While the intense sunlight at higher altitudes develops higher alcohol levels in grapes, the cooler temperatures during the night preserve the freshness and acidity of the grapes. This combination results in full- bodied and vibrant Pinot Noir. Central Otago is also produces Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay.
