The Chateau de Coulaine Chinon is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, in the Chinon AOC (Appellation d’Origine Controlée), which is in the Loire Valley. It is a beautiful, lifted and smooth red wine. Aromas and flavours of raspberry, red cherry and cranberry along with a slight dried herb spiciness and fresh acidity. Lovely subtle oak gives an extra dimension to a very moreish wine. Very easy drinking, this is a crowd pleaser that goes with duck, pork, roasted chicken or rich potato dishes.

"The entry-level cuvée, vinified in cement vats, and in this case bottled in July 2018. It has a quite pretty nose, with plenty of forward fruit, damson and blackcurrant in particular, lifted by a confident seam of leafy freshness. Showing charm and medium-bodied substance on the palate, textured and fresh with bright acidity, it carries a wealth of fruit to echo the nose, all blackcurrant and wild black cherry, leading into a sappy finish. It is bright, with plenty of fruit, but also some old-school style running through its veins. This will drink well over the next two or three years.” 91 points (on the 2017 vintage)

Made from 100% Cabernet Franc. Mostly from younger vines up to about 15 yo, this wine is vinified in cement tanks using indigenous yeast and aged in a combination of large old oak and cement tanks.
