The South West wine region, in France, includes several appellations and sub appellations such as Cahors, Cotes de Gasgogne and Jurancon. Although the South West of France is south of Bordeaux, most of the grape varieties in this region are not grown in Bordeaux and the style of the wine produced differs significantly. The main wines produced are Cahors (mostly made from Malbec grapes), Madiran (made from Tannat grapes) and Jurancon, a dry or sweet, aromatic white wine that has high acidity (made from the Petit Manseng grapes).
